This 3 part learning series will be presented annually in the Fall. Join us in learning effective strategies that will help you advocate for better inclusive education for your child with intellectual disabilities. We will have group discussions, case studies, answer your questions, and provide resources.

SEPTEMBER - Powerful Prep: Foundations for Solid Collaboration

Powerful Prep for Parents, a practical workshop designed to help families feel confident and equipped for the school year ahead. Learn how to build strong relationships with your child’s learning team, anticipate challenges, and navigate school events with ease. Leave feeling prepared, empowered, and ready to support your child’s success.

OCTOBER - Supports in Inclusive Classrooms: Enhancing Learning Opportunities

Understand key tools like report cards, IPPs, and behavior plans to track progress and advocate effectively. You’ll explore strength-based approaches to inclusive education, discover practical supports beyond traditional resources, and learn how to collaborate confidently with educators. Together, we’ll shift perspectives to focus on what truly supports your child’s learning.

NOVEMBER - Advocacy 101: Building Parent Capacity for Advocacy

Gain a deeper understanding of your natural authority as a parent/guardian to be an effective advocate, while maintaining a respectful collaborative relationship with the school team. Learn how to identify and categorize difficult issues into 2 areas to work towards positive solutions, and learn when to escalate challenges to the next level. 

Inclusive Employment Workshops

Join us for 3 interactive workshops that will be offered annually in the Spring. Designed to equip you with effective strategies for exploring, finding and maintaining employment for persons with intellectual disabilities. We will have group discussions, share real life examples, answer your questions, and provide resources.

JANUARY 31- Imaging Work Possibilities: 

This workshop invites families to explore what meaningful, paid work could look like when it’s shaped around a person’s strengths, interests, and needs. Together, we’ll look beyond traditional job options and focus on practical ideas that support purpose, contribution, and success.

FEBRUARY 28- Creating a Job Search Plan: 

A practical and supportive session for families who want help thinking through how to approach employment in a way that feels doable and realistic.

MARCH 28 - Tools for Employment Success: 

We’ll explore a range of practical topics related to building and sustaining employment, including understanding roles and supports, preparing for job opportunities, and navigating common challenges along the way. The focus will be on sharing ideas, building confidence, and identifying strategies that can be adapted to each family’s unique situation.

If you have lingering questions or perhaps were not able to attend in person for our most recent workshop or learning series, please join us online for a virtual a session the 2nd Monday after the event. This will provide you with an opportunity to connect and collaborate with others, and get a condensed version of some the content shared. Please be sure to register!
